Ladies and gentlemen, we are headed toward the dirty dozen! To celebrate this milestone of 12 years running, we have brought back one of the most popular events from our 2012 edition of the contest, Steel Bar Bending! We have also beefed up our Timber Wagon Deadlift which was overwhelmingly voted as last year’s favorite event; we’ve brought back the Truck Pull in a big way; we are introducing a brand new Medley of Death; and of course we will once again be offering West Virginia State Records on the Max Giant Log Lift featuring the most infamous perhaps in the world, the Dream Crusher!

Come join us at our 12th rendition of what has become known as our “Strongman Homecoming,” the Strongest Man/Woman in the Forest!

(Strongman Corp. membership REQUIRED of all competitors, and will be available at the show)

Steel Bar Bending

  • Athletes will have 60sec to flip bend 3 bars. Fastest time wins.
  • Split times will be taken so that rep ties can be broken. Example: Jim does 3 bends and Joe does 3 as well, but Jim is faster. Jim wins.
  • To receive credit for a bend, competitor must bend the bar into a “U” shape, and toss it to the ground immediately. Time will be credited once the bar hits the ground. Competitor may immediately begin work on the next bar once he/she has thrown down the previous steel bar.
  • After the bend have all been completed or the time has expired, the referee will inspect each bar to make sure they qualify as “completed”. Any bars that are not deemed complete will not be credited, so make sure that you are confident in your bend before you toss any bar down.
  • Bar must not have more than 7 inches of horizontal space between the ends of the bar (or the lowest end and the opposite side if the bend is a little uneven) to be deemed complete.
  • Competitors may use any part of their body to bend the bar while standing, but the bar may not touch the ground or anything other than the competitor’s body. Padding may be used for protection, but is subject to inspection and approval by the referees.
  • Elbow sleeves & knee sleeves (without buckling mechanisms), a single belt, and wrist wraps are legal.

Max Log

  • Athletes will have 30sec to make a successful lift each round. There is no limit on how many attempts can be made in those 30sec. Log is to be lifted from the ground to the overhead position while standing.
  • This will be contested “last man standing” style with a 3 attempt limit; if you miss a lift you’re out. Please provide your next attempt to the score keeper within 60sec of completing your last lift or we will choose for you. 4th attempts may only be made if the athlete made all 3 previous attempts and the 3rd was within one increment of breaking (not tying) the current record. 4th attempts will count for scoring purposes.
  • Athletes must wait for the “down” signal to receive credit for their lift. To receive the signal, the feet must not be staggered, must be shoulder width or narrower, and must not be moving. The elbows and knees must be locked, and the hips must be extended with the log overhead and steady.
  • In the event of a tie, the athlete that took less attempts to reach the weight will receive the higher placing
  • Elbow sleeves & knee sleeves (without buckling mechanisms), a single belt, and wrist wraps are legal.

Truck Pull

  • 60sec time limit to cover the 75ft course. Harness and hand rope style.
  • Everyone will use the same harness. Please do not pester me about using your own harness. I won’t budge. In 8 years, probably 12 contests, and countless training sessions with 110 pound ladies all the way up to 400+lb men, no one has ever “come out” of the harness in mid-pull. The only way to accomplish that would be to literally stop pulling and move backward to create slack while letting your arms hang down to the side and slumping your shoulders. If you do that, you didn’t want to win anyway.
  • Fastest time wins. Weight will be added to pick up and roll back as needed.
  • You may assign your own “rope handler” if you wish, if not, one will be provided for you

 Death Medley

  • 60sec to carry all 3 implements. Fastest time wins.
  • Each implement must be carried ~30ft
  • The duck walk implement must cross the finish line entirely before the competitor may move onto the next implement.
  • Block and stone must be loaded over a cross bar. Height will be 48in for men, 44 for women.
  • Split times will be taken on each implement. If not finished, credit will be given for the time of any/all completed implements.
  • No tacky or sticky assistive substances whatsoever. Skin protection like gauntlets, and tape (sticky side to skin) are OK. One belt, sleeves, and wrist wraps are legal. No “grip shirts”.

Timber Wagon Deadlift

  • 60sec to complete as many reps as possible on a wagon loaded with logs in a “progressive” format. This means weight is added each rep (in the form of volunteers tossing plates on a loading pin). Must wait for “down” command.
  • Once the final weight is reached, athletes may rep out that top weight.
  • Higher base weights and bigger increments for men’s classes! Thank Phil Gruentzel and James Bell for this.
  • This will be parallel handles, and set above standard height roughly 16-18in.
  • Sleeves, one belt, and normal straps legal. No suits, cranes, forklifts, or hydraulic floor jacks.

General Rules/Usual Mouser Stuff

  • In the event of a tie in the final standings, 1st place finishes will decide the winner. If there is still a tie, then 2nd place finishes will be the determinant, and so on. If a tie cannot be broken this way, athletes will compete head to head in a mystery event to determine the winner.
  • Sportsmanship is expected and required. This is the greatest sport in the world, let’s keep it that way.
  • There will be a pre-event prayer. No one is expected to participate, so please do not feel obligated. All we ask is to be respectful of those that do or do not wish to participate.
  • This is a drug free contest. If you are juiced feel free to come cheer on your buddies but please do not bother to sign up.
  • If you have a question, please ask! I would rather take a minute to clarify something than to see someone have a poor showing due to a misunderstanding.
